Closing tags is a good habit to have, I think. Having browsers tollerance of sloppy code as crutches is likely just going to lead to broken/quirked sites in the future for those who don't do it tidy. > In XTML am I reading you correctly that you do not have an opening and a closing >

tag, just one
??? Correct. As far as I know there's never been closing tags for

, etc. You CAN do it as

as far as I know (some websites have said so), but it's less coding to do the space and a slash. And it's VERY important that there is a space between the br and the slash.
When you don't have the space, older browsers like the NN4s will look at it as a bad code, and not a proper tag. That space makes XHTML backwards compatable, which would be expecially important to you, as I seem to recall that you like the NN4.7? I haven't gotten it yet (cash flow's been pretty bad this year) but Dreamweaver MX codes XTHML in default. Until then, I've got a plug in for DW4 that cuts down on my hand coding of XTHML.
