Two suggestions I found are 1. Conversions Plus from
http://www.dataviz.com/ and 2. KeyView from
http://www.keyview.com/ (but the later now redirects
to Verity.com so I'd probably recommend the former.)

office suite programs and they seem to resent wordpro in the same way - I
think Word Perfect was the only one to open other files easily, and that
seems to have bit the dust).
