You'll probably get several opinions, but I would suggest
either redhat, mandrake (based on redhat), or debian.
Slackware is also an excellent version (I use this and
redhat) but has a little bit steaper learning curve.

If you want to download either the iso to burn a cd or the
individual files you can use
ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/distributions
or ftp://ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions.

Alternatively if you don;t want to wait on download times
you can puurchase CD sets from Discount Linux CD's for just a
a few dollars (Debian 3.0r1 7 CD set is roughly $15
including s/h)http://www.edmunds-enterprises.com/linux/index.php
I have used them before, the are quite prompt at filling
orders.

As an aside, I am very impresses w. OOo (both Linux and
Windows flavors) and will probably flush M$ office shortly.
