[wdvltalk] Password protection

I have been asked to provide a password protected part of a site under 
development so that certain documents can only be downloaded after the 
viewer has subscribed. It's for a business service and the client wants 
something like the arrangements we all see when we download paid-for software.

I've looked at SiteSecure as it was recommended to me - it looks OK - and 
the client will use PayPal. Has anyone any other suggestions as to suitable 
password recording/ managing programmes? This one will need to manage the 
passwords indefinitely as some of my customers' clients have been with him 
for ten years - it's just that costs of print and post are now getting to 
the stage that it is no longer economical to continue "as is", plus two 
clients of his are opening overseas offices and he wants to be able to 
support them too. Individual items are very low cost but in a year a 
customer might purchase several hundred pounds worth (sterling) of 
support/documents.
