Hi Jon,
Thanks for taking the time to write all those instructions out. I will have a go at understanding them after I give you some examples. Your examples look different than other one's I've studied overnight. Seems I need my OWN examples in my head and in front of me to understand things and that's where I seem to be having problems. I don't do well translating tutorial instructions into my own site stuff especially when I don't understand the coding language to begin with. Dumb, yeah but I have to live with it.
RewriteEngine on - this is done - at this point it's believed all I need to do is write the lines in the .htaccess
A few of my own site urls that needs to be written for:
http://www.pixelresources.net/links.php?op=viewlink&cid=22
http://www.pixelresources.net/links.php?op=viewlink&cid=6
http://www.pixelresources.net/article.php?sid=20&mode=&order=0
http://www.pixelresources.net/download.php?op=viewdownload&cid=5
I *think* what I need is someone to either write me a couple of .htaccess lines using some of my own url's as I can't seem to translate from tutorial to my own. I *think* this would get me started but I don't even know that for sure right now. According to what I've read, I'm not supposed to need any part of the url (using the examples above) up to the forward slash before the first file name, example: /links.php?op=viewlink&cid=6 ... would someone please tell me what "cid" means? If I knew that I *might* grasp another thimble-ful of understanding.
Thanks, Deb
