<quote> A web client of mine suggested putting divs on his pages that contain keywords and links, but with the div having coordinates which put it off the viewable page (negative numbers). Anyone know if this is frowned on by search engines? </quote>
Hi Steve; I have been keeping tabs on the search engine optimization forum at http://www.ihelpyouservices.com. What your client is suggested falls into the category of hidden text, which will get you a BIG frown from the search engines. Google has implemented new spam filters to catch exactly this kind of thing recently. If you are caught by Google, or if someone reports you via their spam reporting form, you could get penalized or banned. So be careful. /Sol ____ The WDVL Discussion List from WDVL.COM ____ To Join wdvltalk, Send An Email To: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Send Your Posts To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To change subscription settings to the wdvltalk digest version: http://wdvl.internet.com/WDVL/Forum/#sub ________________ http://www.wdvl.com _______________________ You are currently subscribed to wdvltalk as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
