I've been Googling for the answer and found some leads on Zend (a PHP site)
but until yesterday, I was oblivious to such things as Julian, Gregorian,
and Unix calendars. Phhht, I thought a calendar was a calendar. Sometimes
I'm astounded by my own ignorance. Fortunately the link you sent includes
this link:

which might give me more insight as to the differences.
