Every once in a while I get fed up with something that Outlook does/does not
do and go looking at other email programs. Over the years I've tried dozens
but keep ending up back with Outlook because I need the PIM integration not
separate email clients, contact managers and calendars.

Best program I used was back in the pre-Windows 9x days was Lotus's PIM but
it wasn't updated to effectively work in 95 until after 98 came out and
never did integrate e-mail.

For the most part Outlook 2003 (I'm running the revised Beta 2) has pretty
good spam filters. I've modified the attachment level security so that
client files come through but the pif files the SoBig virus sends won't get
through with or without Zone Alarm's quarantine. I just haven't figured out
how to set a rule that would only affect certain attachments. Probably a way
to do it but I haven't had the time or desire to go through the docs in that
much detail.

POPFile looks interesting but if I were going to spend that much time on
learning how to install/set-up I might as well read the Outlook docs. <grin
/>

Probably just as well that I skim the messages before deleting since I have
a few items I've purchased online that I haven't received so one of those
"details" messages might be valid.

how about PopFile??? that should do the trick, too? And what about a
different Mail program ;-) but I fear you _need_ Outlook specifically,
right?
