Sonja, You know what I do when I have a client who insists something can be done when it can't? I submit a question to one of my various lists (like this one) and forward my client all the responses. When that client realizes that web designers from all over the world will back up your statements, then that tends to help them realize that you are not just saying it can't be done because YOU don't know how to do it! It also lets them know that you are a member of a large community that discusses such issues and that you "might" just know a bit more about the subject than they do :)
It has worked for me several times in the past and has resolved several "sticky" situations...even those when the client's computer is messed up and they think it is the site that is not working. Clients who have been through one of these "global tests" (as I call them) learn not to question me anymore.
