I was reading through the posts and noticed the blurbs about looking for a course for PHP, etc., so thought I'd share something I've found invaluable. I've used the http://www.vtc.com site to buy tutorials on CD, which are in the form of QuickTime movies. Some of the tutorials are great, and others not so great, but overall, worth it. If you're a registered student or work in education, they offer discounts. I had to contact them for the discount. When you compare the cost of a face-to-face class or an online class to the cost of the CDs, the CD is the way to go, at least initially. You can build a solid foundation of knowledge with the CDs, then take a class or get with someone who can help you understand the finer aspects of whatever it is you want to learn. I am not a programmer by training, but I bought the CDs for MySQL and PHP and was actually able to get a small database up and going.
Hope that helps!
