It pretty much comes down to are you an employee of either company?  If yes
to either then they own it.  You were paid as an employee because writing
code is part of your job.  I'm assuming that is part of your job
description.  There may or may not be any company policy about this.

But you really should talk to an attorney.  The only one that I've seen
online is this one http://www.ivanhoffman.com/atty.html.  Have no idea if
he's really good or not.
