If you can connect to your web server, Cheryl's idea sounds best as routers are tricky things if you don't know what you are doing and it will only take seconds for sniffers out on the net to know you are open and exploit you and then you will be sad. There's lots of ways to get your ip address the other way around, put a link on your desktop to www.ipchicken.com is one way. Then phone your friend and tell him what it is along with the password to your router (you did read the part about changing the default password on your router right?). Simply zipping up the files with a password and ftp'ing is fast, and he/she will then be able to get the files whenever they want them without worrying about whether or not you're up and running and that gives you time to read your router documentation a bit more. hth... cheers, Mark ____ • The WDVL Discussion List from WDVL.COM • ____ To Join wdvltalk, Send An Email To: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Send Your Posts To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To set a personal password send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the words: "set WDVLTALK pw=yourpassword" in the body of the email.
