I'm with you on this, although I occasionally load up an earlier version of RealPlayer Basic when I really want to view some particular content.
> Seems no matter how you have it configured it tries to 'phone home' loads One of the many reasons I like ZoneAlarm is that it foils this kind of crapola by monitoring both incoming and outgoing traffic. Of course, you do have to allow outbound connections to the streaming source to see content, but ZoneAlarm makes it fairly easy to discern that from RealPlayer's attempts to contact its own servers. Once you've detected that, simply deny connection and check the box "Remember my choice... " so that the next time it wants to call home it's automatically frustrated in the attempt.
