Not a web development item this, but has anyone any experience of, or do you know of , any software that would enable scheduling of staff and also pupils for a children's day nursery? I have a client running a small unit here in UK that wants to automate so far as possible many time-consuming routine tasks.
The package which would need to cover such things as scheduling the toddlers' classes as they progress from 2 half days per week to 5 half days per week as they prepare to go to school full time. Reserving places for siblings for next year and the intake of new arrivals would need to be included. Staff rotas are also required as well as meals schedules and class and subject timetables, etc, etc. Customer invoices need to be linked to and driven from the day to day schedule which runs for 51 weeks of the year.
If there is the option to link to an accounts package for invoice generation and/or wages preparation that would be a bonus, but not essential. So far anything identified as doing all that is required has been aimed at large corporations or hospitals and costs thousands of pounds. We need something that is just a few hundred pounds. Up to twenty staff and perhaps 100 pupils would be good.
I'm not asking anyone to search via Google, we've done that a few times, just wondered if any of you that have children - large or small - may be aware of something.

There's http://www.childcareware.com/?hop=nickh5883 : not exactly what you want, but a starting point.The company might have more advanced products that are nearer the mark.
There might be LEA packages for schools that would be suitable with a bit of adapting? Or packages small schools use/adapted when they found they weren't - Asking on the forums on something like Teachernet http://www.teachernet.gov.uk/ might turn up some results?
