I've been asked if I can recommend a software package that will monitor _all_ the software on a PC network and report the version and licence number (if any) for each package on each PC on the network. This is for a fairly large outfit (probably several hundred PCs) that is UK based and wants to ensure that no-one is using and/or installing "unauthorised" version of anything.

They want to be able to run this both on a regular and http://www.jesuit.ie/uk/wimbledon/
an "ad hoc" basis for either the entire network or a specific PC if they suspect someone is doing something they shouldn't in terms of installations/upgrades.

Anyone any suggestions? Cost is not (within reason) an issue in this case (Makes a change doesn't it? LOL)
