I suppose it depends. At work I do all of the updating for the intranet and schedule these updates from an Outlook Calendar. It will alert me when I need to do something. So I go in and update.
Home jobs I prefer to set a client up with backend management utilities. There are alot of good cheap apps out there that do a fine job of this, however that would entail you to do some reprogramming in order to activate such services. The clients like the independence of managing their content and updating as they see fit, you gain precious sleep not worrying if you missed a time slot or other event. You can weight your options. Do I want to put more time in now (reprogram sites) so that I spend less time later updating? Or do I want to spend my life updating stuff?
