Hmmm, what do you mean they "uninstalled" the printer? How? In what fashion
did "... it didn't work... ?" What operating system? If XP, do you have the
Recovery Console installed?

Quick and dirty to turn off the machine is to hold in the power button for
4-6 seconds, which forces a cold shutdown. If for some reason that fails (it
is a Compaq, after all), turn the unit over, release the spring-loaded slide
latch, and remove the battery for 30-45 seconds. When restarting, if it is
one of the NT-based OSes (NT, 2000, XP), see if you have an option to start
with the last known good configuration. If so, give that a try. If you've
got the Recovery Console installed, I believe that you can go to a previous
restore point just as if you were in the GUI. Look for a folder in C:\
called cmdcons. If it's there, you've got Recovery Console.
