Did you validate your HTML and CSS? This is the first and most
important step of tableless design. Go do that now.

Don't use the box model hack. put IE in 'standards mode' (include an
XHTML doctype, don't include an xml namespace or xml declaration) and
enjoy the peace and tranquility of a consistent box model. IE 5.x
can jump out the window as far as I'm concerned. It and it's even
more retarded, older ilk constitute less than half a percent of *my*
browsing population. On client sites, I rarely see IE 5.x and below
gain more than five percent of the browsing population. Here's some
other sources:

http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp
AUG 2004 - 7.3%

http://www.upsdell.com/BrowserNews/stat.htm
AUG 2004 - 9.3%

http://www.webreference.com/stats/browser.html
AUG 2004 - 7.63%

No specific stat's, it's a bar graph, but IMO, it's negligible.

Stephen
