'Real cleaning', I don't know or remember if there is a program that can do that. But if there's no way to tell if you need the file or not, any registry deleting/cleaning can be disastrous, especially if you don't make a restore point and copy the registry before you begin.
I do make sure that I create a 'restore point' on my computer monthly. One time the only way I could fix my MS OS was to go to a previous restore point. It has helped me more than once to avoid the dreaded "reformat and reinstall factory programs' actions.
I'm really hoping that your computer is behaving weird due to spyware or a virus. I use 2 anti virus programs, Norton and Avg. Once a week I run virus scans on both programs. I really put a high value on Ad-Aware, it's caught those programs more than once.
