AVG reserves a portion of your hard disk for the virus vault, the installation 
default is 20%. I
think that this is what is 'taking up' all the space....to check > control 
center > test center >
virus vault > Service > Program settings > Virus vault and you will see how 
much space has been
reserved for the vault, and you can then adjust the setting to what you think 
is reasonable....then
check what space that space hogging file is taking up
