It would help if you said what scripting language you are using! At first I thought, on the assumption it's php, image manipulation depends on the GD library being installed - perhaps it was missing from this server's installation of php. However I read further and see you copied the file back to one of the servers where it worked before, and it still doesn't.
So there must be something wrong with the copy?
