Thanks for the reply.

Last week when my DSL went out, I called tech support to get back online. They had me go to a certain website (192.168.0.1) to try and fix the problem, but anytime I tried to navigate from there I got a blank page. The woman did tell me to go to the Advanced tab under Internet Options and click on Restore Defaults. The only problem is that I don't remember what they were originally set to - looks o.k. to me though.

I will try your other suggestions.

Thanks,
Riva

Seems to be an idiosyncratic problem. Hard to diagnose. Have had similar
things occur so here are my additions to the pot.

First, what did you last change before the problem started? Undo it and see
if that fixes it. If it doesn't, redo it.

We have 3rd park app which downloads its own ActiveX control. Now and then
the control just decides to get flaky. When that happens we get the same
condition you do. Deleting the control and letting it reinstall fixes it.

Have you been ordering from Circuit City or Blockbuster? If so, perhaps
there is a control you download in the process. Not a clue what it would be.
Perhaps they have a FAQ which would help.

At times windows auto update can cause problems. Although that usually
knocks out IE totally, even though FF and Opera will function. Sometimes all
it takes to clear it is to clear the annoying auto update message. Other
times, have to actually do something about the upgrades.

Lastly have you tried checking that the necessary services are registered
and running properly? Use a command prompt to type in and press enter for
each of these:

regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 urlmon.dll
regsvr32 comcat.dll
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll

Since the problem is so narrowly focused and clearly a problem your machine
has, it isn't really likely any of these , other than the first, will likely
work. But you never know,
