You guys are making it hard for me to get some work done this morning. I
took yesterday off so I need to get a few hours work in this morning and you
are NOT helping. <g>

FWIW, when I'm teaching hand writing the code or Dreamweaver I teach xhtml.
When teaching FrontPage I teach valid html 4.01 only because you can easily
make FP write valid HTML but writing XHTML requires an extra step every time
you edit a document. So since the biggest reason to use FP is ease of use
and low learning curve for those folks who are used to Office adding extra
steps is counter productive. In all cases validation (and understanding when
the validator can be safely ignored - such as when for some weird reason you
are concerned about NN 4.x) is a stressed.

neener, neener!!

hey mark, you're up early

this is the part that i found dubious --

Pages written in XHTML that are sent with a MIME type of text/html don't

benefit from any of the features of XHTML.
To benefit from the features of XHTML, pages must be sent as
    application/xhtml+xml.

they need to enumerate what those benefits are, before dissing them

the rebuttal by luoma is excellent
