Having probably forgotten all that I learnt last year (ah rudy, don't berate me for having a bad memory) I am now planning a site with a selling focus for an e-book.
It will be php (4.2 I think with the host I plan to use) and MySQL based and will need a good affiliate program/script as well as a shopping cart that will have no more than a dozen items. Ideally (a bit like Amazon) there will be room for comment and critique - er, I mean praise. I would also want to build a list of purchaser addresses and of contact addresses. I should include download control of some sort, since many downloads are interrupted and go wrong. PayPal is an obvious money collection method because of low initial cost; are there now better ways? Other pressures mean I cannot aim at original design and would almost certainly work from some sort of template. So any guidance to apropriate scripts/ methods/ programs that are like me - simple to install and operate - would be welcome.
