You'll need to use the Framework classes in the System.Security.Cryptography namespace. There's MD5 and SHA-1 hash classes in there. If you need to encrypt and decrypt, you'll likely want to use a symmetric-key algorithm then, Rijndael probably being your best bet.

I have some utility functions that do this stuff if you're interested.
