Hi Joseph.
Sorry for such a late reply. To be frank I have never tried WordPress on
my local machine. I always first upload the whole software on the server
where I want to run it and then start customizing it. Of course I work
on the basic template on my computer. You can do one thing just to test:
don't use my-hacks.php. Instead, put the function somewhere in your
index.php (the one that goes in your /wp-content/themes/you-theme/) and
call it from there. Otherwise, I think check it on the server, it should
work.
