Hi, I didn;t see any grey images...and the transistions seemed to speed up in the middle of the slide show...I guess you were working on it as I was looking at it!
To add color, I suggest giving the page a green or dark blue background (by that I mean the whole section to the right of the banner)-- it will make the white areas in the center where the main text ar really stand out.
