I guess I give users enough credit that if something bug them they'll figure
out how to change it themselves.

I so rarely use layout graphics (assuming you mean spacers) that having an
image toolbar show for them doesn't even arise. I tend to put decorative
graphics in as backgrounds doesn't trigger the image toolbar either.

I prefer to see what most users visiting the site would see so I leave IE in
its default setting

It's just that for headers and layout graphics I think it looks better
off... IMHO, of course :)
