Im having problems opening Eudora. I get a message flashing across
the screen that says An unhandled exception error has occurred.
Eudora must shut down
Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program - same message
occurs. Ive shut down the machine and left it off overnight same
message again. Nothing works!
Eudora only provide support for around 14/15 months and mine is
outside that so I wont get anything from them. (When it was inside
the time limit they never replied anyway!)
I wondered if the Registry was at fault so ran C:\regedit and Ive
have dug into the Registry (I get very nervous doing that!) and found
the Eudora folder. In there are three subfolders labelled C: (just
that nothing more); CommandLine ; and LaunchManager . I may have
identified something in the last one - comments welcome!
The contents read:

(Obviously the last three Data strings are in one line)
Looking at a wide range of other Program folders in the same Registry
Folder, I cant find one (Ive concentrated on my well sued programs
such as Word, Excel, Paint Shop etc.) that has entries such as the
DoNotWarn with a vertical line in the data column, coupled
(apparently) with the Path#x line and the WarnExtension#x lines shown
above. Its the word Warn in there makes me think thats the
problem, but I could be way out!!).
If anyone else has Eudora (Im running with XP Pro and all SP updates)
and could look at their Registry and see if Im right, Id appreciate
it. (Plus advise if anything else needs changing too!) This suddenly
manifested itself yesterday evening I installed Pinnacle Studio and
had to restart afterwards when I tried to start Eudora this was the
result! I ran a virus check last night which came up clear, so updated
my AV first thing this morning (its done daily anyway, but thought
Id just check!) and got a second clean bill of health this morning.
Would anyone care to venture advice as to whether or not I should
delete these rows and if that should make the program run again? It
seems logical but then messing with the Registry I know is a
nightmare and Ive never got to grips with any of the supposedly easy
to use Registry modification tools!
The folder I found this in is in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Softweare\Qualcomm\Eudora
Im sending and receiving via web mail only at the moment, so
apologies if I seem slow to respond to questions or comments.
Im offering a decent volume of virtual beer to the person that can
help me fix this! (If you live close enough it could become real beer
or wine if a lady prefers!)
Thanks all.
