Thank you, but that's not what I mean. Visual Studio 2005 is configured

the configuration to use SQL Server 2005.

Diane

Sorry misunderstood.

The Help Files at Start | Programs | Microsoft SQL Server 2005 |
Configuration Manager | SQL Server Configuration Manager don't provide
answers?

I installed 2005 on a machine which has 2003 and the Enterprise
Manager for our 2000 sql servers. The connections to the existing
databases were detected and configured. I can see the connections in
the TCP/IP under the SQL Native Client Configuration | Client
Protocols, Properties as being active and enabled on port 1433. Plus
the Express connections properties show as not enabled.

Local files are available and interestingly throw all sorts of errors
related to standards. In fact the vast number of errors caused me to
simply abandon 2005 on this project until it gets rewritten. It's one
I originally wrote in cf and was rewritten in classic asp and then had
asp.net added (3 people between me and me). Now it's back to me but I
don't think I'll move it back to cf; just patch and then remix in
asp.net in Studio 2005.

On my non-server machine, a similar result obtained. The connections
to the 2000 sql server are active and enabled and the Express
connections are not enabled. Checked again using the Sql Server
Configuration Manager and looking at the protocols. This machine does
not have Enterprise Manager.

So in both cases, the Express seems to be disabled.

Anybody else have installation experiences with Studio 2005 that might
help Diane?
