okay, I've decided to keep ie7 because it's going to be the
standard soon.... I can't solve the problem of add-ons being
disabled.

The help says just restart ie but that doesn't work. When I
right click the ie icon and look at properties add-ons are NOT
disabled. When I look at the add on manager list all the add ons
say 'enabled'.

But in explorer itself under tools the add on manager bit is
greyed out. The add ons listed under toolbars- Onspeed and the
Yahoo Toolbar are also greyed out.

I can't get to use the forums because active x is disabled. And
I've used up my two free help requests with microsoft. Grrr.

I need more help!

How does she get round this?

TIA

Joseph

It sounds as if your daughter didn't actually enable the add-ons.
First part of enabling is to click on the "Enable or disable Add-ons"
choice. This does the enabling. A reboot is reuired then the "Manage
add-ons" selection works. This seems counterintuitive but much of t he
security enhancements you see as an end user in Vista (and IE7 as
designed for Vista) have a certain counterintuitive element about
them.
