Hi all,
I put together a new website and I have the FOUC issue. I tried all
known fixes for it but I still see it. Does anyone have any ideas on how
to fix this? The url is http://www.starqualitydesigns.com/contempo. Yes,
the site still needs a lot of work . . .
Also, the client does not like Arial for the website. It is supposed to
convey an upscale yet affordable feel but I think Georgia looks too
"common" - any ideas/opinions on fonts?
TIA,
Riva
Looked at it with FF 2.01, IE6 or Opera 9.02.
Opera is very unhappy with your fruit table image. In fact it is so
unhappy the image is shoved up and mostly out of the view port. Having
a top margin of -120px on this image means something isn't right. That
image should be in the logo container and not having to be shoved
around relative to the top of the viewport.
What I did was to reconstruct the site by cutting and pasting from the
logo out. For each section I added the html, checked how it looked.
Then added the css. The one thing I made sure to do was to add a
comment for each closing tag for a div.
What I found was that in IE I had to add a clearing statement before
the closing of the wrapper div in order to add content (your height
101% might do this, I just reflexively remove height statements). The
other thing I found is that I think you have an extra closing div tag.
Since I did the reconstruction on a separate page I'm not sure. But
when I was done the image was where is was supposed to be and didn't
need any of the -120px business to place it in the right place.
There does seem to be a small hesitation as the graphics load and are
positioned for the logo. Might be that you need to onload the images.
It resolves fast and may not matter.
Hope it helps.
