Until fairly recently I used Dreamweaver as my primary editor (1 still use
of for php and classic Asp) but Now use Expression Web (better CSS torts)
for over half of my site work. Both programs will write very clean xhtml &
CSS. Expression Web is better with ASP.NET (2.0) thon Dreamweaver. Both
usually need some configuration changes from their defaults to match your
individual preferences. I'm looking forward to using Dreamweaver 9 I what
I've seen looks good. I think I will prefer Adobe Spry to MS Ajax but until
my copy arrives I can't say for certain. FWIW, I work in split view
regardless of which editor l use. I want to know what is happening to the
code.

My recommendation is to download the trials of both and see which suits your
better. If neither suits you after you use them for a month (remember that
learning curve I mentioned) then continue write what you are doing now.
Editors should make your coding easier if not don't use it.

What development tools do you use when creating web sites? Specically, what
editor?

For years, I've just been using TextPad to hand code everything, but a
friend of mine told me to get with modern times and switch to DreamWeaver.
I haven't downloaded the demo yet, but I'm about to.

I just wanted to see what others were using. I'm not opposed to a "visual
designer" as long as I can edit the code to tighten it up and that the code
validates properly.

Thanks!
