Yeah, I quite agree. Sounds to me like Illiad is grasping at straws
here. This wobbly explanation about "demonstrating the power of
online media" sounds suspiciously like something he cooked up after
the fact, to justify an unjustifiable and childish prank.
If anyone is to learn anything from this pointless and irritating
exercise, it should be Illiad. The lesson I hope (but doubt) he
acquires is this: with influence comes responsibility. If a large
number of people have come to trust and respect your views and
information, then you have to behave more maturely and accountably
than you would if you were showing off for a couple of your buddies.
Illiad owes his large following a heartfelt apology for treating them
like so many dim-witted fraternity brothers, stringing them along and
lying to them for the sake of a mighty lame joke.
