This email stuff is really bugging my 79 year old father. He's interested
but reluctant to pay for ISP service because as an AT&T retiree he gets
free long-distance. A couple of weeks ago, he was surprised and irritated
to hear that I'd heard of a death in our family via my aunt and my brother
THREE days before Dad was able to get me on the phone.

My 70 yr old aunt is considering putting her portrait painting business on
the Web. She's cute: when she first got on AOL she announced that she would
only be online once a day to get email. Now I'm getting 5 or 6 notes a day
from her. She's hooked! It's great, since she's like my own mother but
lives in Miami so I only see her once every 20 years or so.

Retirement is our county's largest "industry." Many of the numerous
white-haired folks who come to our Mac user group are online to keep up
with their stock portfolios as well as their grandchildren.
