Well, there is some slight hope that presbyopia may be surgically correctable in the future. Just as we now can eliminate refractive error using laser corneal re-shaping, research is being done investigating restoring the focusing function of eyes over 43. I have talked with local ophthalmologists who have been to the conferences introducing this concept, but don't hold your breath, it'll be a while before this is actually done (and for those of you in the US, there is a 7 YEAR tril period for new surgical procedures before FDA approval.) Maybe full time bifocal wear is the answer to lost readers for now.
