I've been working with Win98 for a year now. So far so good until last
week... when I installed it on a tower with a TV tuner card. It wasn't
detecting the card at all. After tweaking with it for so many hours, the
solution to the problem was to un-install Win98.
That same week, I installed it on a Toshiba laptop that was having problems
with its display chip. With the Win95 OS, the box was able to look fine by
tweaking with the display drivers. However, with the Win98 OS, it was too
smart to detect that something was wrong... so it wouldn't fix it. I gave
it to my neighbor, who's a Toshiba engr and they couldn't figure out how to
fix it... even after passing it around to other Toshiba techs. Solution to
this problem was to uninstall Win98 and revert back to Win95. :(
Aside from these 2 problems, I've had a lot of good experience with the
Win98 OS. It does make things faster and has fixed problems in other
machines that Win95 couldn't do.
Good luck

Does anyone have reports of how Win98 is installing (any
pitfalls to look out for)? I had no plans to use it, but I've heard
it speeds things up and a client has offered me a (legal)
package.
