Kathy, thanks for that info. I can relate perhaps more than most. Last
year, when I was still living in Singapore, I sent an annoyed email to the
NYT-online complaining that I had to pay to access their site, whereas my
father sitting in California did not. I asked to know what their reasoning
was for this disparity - did it cost them more to provide the site to me?
(of course it did not :)
They gave me a nonsensical answer, and I never went back to the site. Now
that I'm stateside, I do visit it occasionally, but spend more time at
washingtonpost.com
I don't know if or when the day will come when we pay for news online. I
suspect the competition will be such that it will be along time off...
