If you configure your secure server to have a different starting path, you can
put your secure pages "above" the starting path for your regular pages and avoid
this.  This way, secure pages area ONLY accessible via https and non secure
pages ONLY accessible via http.  Here's an example:

htdocs
\secure
\regsite

https points to secure
http points to regsite

Unless you have some reason to want to intermingle them, this is the easiest
solution.
