I don't see why the big announcement is necessary. Any email client that
allows hyperlinks would be subject to the same thing, as the rest of the
report tells us:

Finnish researchers discovered a programming error
could enable a hacker to crash the Microsoft or
Netscape mail programs and run a destructive
application in its place. Both companies now offer a
patch that users can download.

The Eudora problem was different, but ``the potential
for damage is the same,'' Parks said.

If people had good antivirus programs running there would not be a problem.
My personal preference is McAfee because it is always active and scans
every email that come through. Yes, it even caught an infected attached
file once which solidified my confidence in the program.

problems)

Undoubtedly there are more technically detailed stories about this "flaw" in
Eudora. However, I'm wondering just how serious this issue is. It says that
if someone receives an attached file with an email and they run it, the
file could do damage. Well, of course it could. This isn't news. There must
be more to this.

Note that the Mac version of Eudora is not affected by this "flaw".
