Hi Suz,
Having a friend who is an executive secretary comes in handy sometimes for
critiquing my work. Posed with your question she replied. "after the
period". That would mean every paragraph would have its own set of quotes.
I, however, have a somewhat biased opinion. If I was quoting multiple
paragraphs, I would enclosed the entired quote with a thivk horizontal line
above and below the quote, thus eliminating the need for quotation marks.
That is also how many newspapers handle the situation too, both online and
offline.
But then, it comes down to a matter of personal style preferences.
