European and American ways of protecting privacy seem to be sharply
diverging at this moment.
Frankly, I do not know if the EU can make its laws to protect the privacy
of its citizens stick, without creating a bureaucratic monster, but already
vast sums are being spent by companies to get ready for compliance with the
new legislation.
Websites that suck up private data of European citizens can expect problems
beyond merely irritating their customers.
