Thanks for the timely reference, Gerry. My project for the day is a
proposal for an ecomm site.
The article says, "In most cases, partner sites that provide these selling
portals take between
5 and 15 percent of each transaction."
So let me ask you all for your opinion: Our prospective client is being
pitched by another company that is offering ads plus participation in an
ecomm program that provides realtime credit card verification, email order
verification, etc. For this they want 20% of sales that come via through
the company's high traffic web site (that's in addition to the 7% credit
card fee). The client is choking on the 20%, and I happen to know that the
company that is pitching them is quite desperate for money and would
probably accept much less to close the deal. They license their ecomm
program through Merchant Planet, who, I suppose, would also take a
percentage. What do you think a fair counter-offer to that 20% would be?
