Like many people, I don't care or want to know who the guy is sleeping
with. After all, FDR and JFK both slept around and that didn't seem to
impede their effectiveness as leaders (FDR's mistress was at his bedside at
his vacation retreat when he died).

My guess is that the Republicans'and Starr's ball will just keep right on
rolling towards impeachment hearings based on perjury with nary a pause. I
doubt a little mea culpa will slow Starr down for a second.

Personally, I think Clinton should just resign and save everyone the
continuing saga. He most assuredly has lost his leadership mandate with
fellow high-ranking Democrats as well as with US citizens. Many fellow
Democrats publicly supported his lies and must be terribly angry and
disappointed with him now. I imagine they'll all keep going to work and
mouthing their support for him as long as he's in office, but I'm sure that
in their hearts they'd all like to relieve him of his cojones without
benefit of anesthesia.

Also, I'd guess that not long after he leaves office, Mr. Clinton will be
presented with a divorce petition. Surely there's not a woman in the world
strong enough to suffer the humiliaton that Hillary has suffered throughout
his term in office with her love intact. I imagine that the power they
share in the White House is a powerful bond, but once that's gone, Hillary
will probably be left with little besides her husband's massive legal bills.

I must admit also that I'm intrigued with the idea of having an
environmentalist President in office. Our planet surely needs such a
leader, and Al Gore probably lacks the personality to get himself elected
on his own.
