Hi
Perl experts, attention please ;)
I've a form in a secure area on computer A, but it calles a cgi script on
another computer (B) and that location is open, though you would have to
know the file name to use it as the only place it is called from is the
secure area on Computer A.
I would like to make sure that it is only called from that computer (A).
The environment variables give me the users IP address (no use) and I can
get the referer URL. The Referer URL is probably what I want to check
against. Is this correct? Fool proof?? Any other ideas?
The actual script has to be in perl.. I also have to try and integrate it
into a mainly Cold Fusion based set of tools. Just for interest... the form
is to set up a Uni subject (unit) homepage and associated things (lists,
IRC, webboard, etc)... one of which is an email list. They can have as many
as they like but for a start we simplify it by just putting a check box on
the unit creation page which lets them indicate if they want a list or not.
It then does a lot of other Db stuff and also now will go to another server
and automatically create (clone) a (Lyris) Topic and list.
This making it easy for the user can get painful ;)
thanks
Bruce
