I just tried and got into Endless Rivers just fine. I also tried
http://www.tenderlovingcare.cc and it came up with "Index of
/"...is this the old box?
Things to check/try
1) Check to see if you have an IP in your hosts file (on your
PC). this could be overriding the DNS entry for the new machine.
2) Check to see if your mac's DNS server has been updated with
the new address. If it is pointing to the old one.
As an aside:
If you have access to a Win NT machine or access to a unix box.
Try to check things out using 'nslookup' .
nslookup endlessriveradventures.com
It should return (if things are correct here) something like this:
Server: ns.newdream.net
Address: 207.155.127.155
Name: endlessriveradventures.com
Address: 207.155.127.196
If not, then the problem lies in your DNS servers.
BTW: This is what I get when I queried the name server for the domain:
endlessriveradventures.com
I noticed a couple of things:
[ns.newdream.net]
endlessriveradventures.com. SOA ns.newdream.net
dallas.newdream.net. (1998091400 6048 86400 2419200 6048)
This means the person in charge of your DNS for the domain is
[EMAIL PROTECTED] (BTW: The technical contact should be the
person in charge or hardwared/net connectivity - in case of a
problem instead of Kelly, Angelea (AK1660) [EMAIL PROTECTED] ).
Also, it says the ID for the file is 1998091400, this prolly
means it was modified on Sep 14, 1998, modified 1 time. So this
indicates your DNS has not updated since the 14th. The number I
am concerned with is the 2419200. This means (if my memory is
correct) that your DNS may not be updated for 28 days (2419200
seconds 28 days). So if you are not pointing to the same DNS
server as your domain is using, it could be a few weeks before
you see the change. And if you (for some reason) were on
AOL/NetCom you could see the changes in a week - they ignore the
expire number from DNS.
endlessriveradventures.com. NS ns.newdream.net
endlessriveradventures.com. NS ns2.newdream.net
These 2 lines define the Name Servers
endlessriveradventures.com. A 207.155.127.196
ftp CNAME endlessriveradventures.com
mail CNAME endlessriveradventures.com
localhost A 127.0.0.1
www CNAME endlessriveradventures.com
These define all the hosts for your system
ftp, www, mail are pointing to endlessriveradventures.com.
(BTW: Localhost should NOT be in your DNS - this says that
localhost.endlessriveradventures.com = 127.0.0.1 which exists on
ALL machines).
