The country code TLD's are not (yet) affected by the end of NSI's contract
with the National Science Foundation.
IANA's funding by the US govt. will end, but IBM and MCI have pledged
alternative funding. Will they control IANA in the future?
I don't expect any actual disruptions there.
Sooner or later the focus is bound to shift to the legitimacy of Country
Code registry operators.
France already has demanded that Martinique (.mq and .gp) be removed from
the root zone and there are different demands about .tj, .tv,and .tm
I'm not sure who runs .cc
If only the TLD's could be run bottom-up, with a board elected by the
constituent domains registered in them, there would'nt be a problem.
