Yep,
That would be the 24k gears pict (which I won't be using anyway).
Complications are driven mostly by the two .js files, which drive the
effects and the page layout... (and the 26.4k time of day thing).
Here's the breakdown of the page you downloaded:
ageared.html: 4.41 kb
ageared.gif: 6.82 kb
ageared2.gif: 2.46 kb
sidebar.gif: 1.75 kb
gears1.gif: 24.1 kb
effects.js: 23.2 kb
script.js: 30.2 kb
----------------------------------
total: 92.94 kb
Note: effects.js and script.js are global.
Gotta admit, it is a fun thing to play around with. Here on LI, you can
target using dhtml to a certain extent: Cablevision's fiber optic cable
network is affording its subscribers 1MPS transfer rates.
Guess for now, dhtml work will limit itself to such networks and perhaps
intranets. But by the time cable becomes enough of a viable standard to
make using a dhtml a profittable venture, at least I'll have the learning
curve beat. Or maybe xml will be the standard by then? Either way, I know
a number of people--some in a couple of Fortune 500 companies--that like
what dhtml has the potential to offer.
Btw, do you think the time of day thing has something to do with the Starr
report <g>?
