    This is an excellent point!  It is how I learned programming in the
first place, and how I pick up new programming languages whenever someone
dumps a body of existing, strange, (and usually wretched,) code on my lap. 
Whenever I can, I work to impose my "style" on that body of code, as if
sections of that body of code were only a hypothetical descriptions.  It
usually makes things work more efficiently, while simultaneously teaching
me a new language.

    Wish that laws could be compiled and tested so easily!  Might make
Congress more productive, or is it anti-productive?
