Do Not Get me started. Consider this a Rant if you wish.

(1) In pre- version 4 browsers, this is TOTALLY up to the user.
(2) W/CSS, the author *can* override all user controls, but do so at
your own risk.

POINT:
Hypertext = Underline.
This is a user interface issue. When you screw around w/user interfaces
because you want to make things conform to *your* version of "pretty" --
you run the risk of making your site difficult/impossible for others to
use. This relates to colors of visited/not-visited links as well as
underlines.

If YOU don't like 'em, turn them off in your own browser. Your end users
can/will do the same. BTW, they can set their own colors too.

And graphics used as links do not provide "user feedback" -- ie, they
don't change color to show the user that the link has been visited. And
"text" turned into graphics is a waste of bandwidth, IMNOHO.
